Volunteers at Mwabvi Wildlife Reserve based in Malawi “The warm heart of Africa” will be involved in various activities related to our day to day operations in this Magnificent Wildlife Reserve of over 137 square kilometers.
Some of these activities may include, looking after our cubs, feeding and cleaning the Predator enclosures, conservation and research work, education and outreach work, helping with our orphan programme, general maintenance, developing and surveying of new game roads, helping with guests at our newly constructed Njati Lodge, plus lots more interesting and new experiences.
Accommodation for our volunteers can be either in our guest house or in our semi-private dormitory. We do also do camp outs in the bush with volunteers depending on the length of time you are here with us. Volunteers can be accommodated at Mwabvi from 2 weeks up to 12 months at a time.
You can apply for one or more of the following volunteer experiences under the listed group activities:

The seasons are predominately summer and winter. Summer at Mwabvi Wildlife Reserve in the Southern part of Malawi in the District of Nsanji can be very hot and humid with most of the year's rainfall taking place during this period. Temperatures can reach 35°C - 45°C during the day, falling to around 26°C - 30°C in the evenings. The winters are dry with occasional showers, and very pleasant. Although temperatures can fall to 15°C at night, the days are pleasant with clear skies and temperatures in the high 20s. Given the low altitude (80-200m), the humidity levels can become rather high.
